Outsourcing is a fashionable concept, and as such it provokes a range of responses from blind enthusiasm to total scepticism. Fashion aside, outsourcing is a sensible option if it will save your company money or if it allows you to concentrate resources in other areas.

Give thought to outsourcing freight claims if:

You currently employ a full time claims person and your claim volumes are less than 200 per year. Remember that when considering the cost of a full time claims person, don't forget to include fixed expenses such as rent, power, overheads, superannuation, and ACC as well as their salary.

The General Manager or another Senior Manager is currently handling your claims. Chances are that their time is worth more on an hourly basis than the cost of outsourcing.
