| Today's
domestic freight market
is more competitive than
ever before. Decreasing
freight rates and increasing
expenses are making it more
and more difficult to find
and retain business. For
freight companies to survive
and flourish in the modern
environment, they must be
able to differentiate themselves
from their competition on
the basis of high quality
service. |
|

|
Improving risk management
and claims handling is
a low cost and highly
effective way of adding
value for your customers,
and putting you one
step ahead of the
competition.
|
Many
freight companies talk a lot
about customer service, but
all too often this just extends
to picking up the goods and
getting them to the destination
on time.
| The
true test of customer service
is when things go wrong
and goods are lost or damaged.
Often, freight companies
do not have the skills or
resources to deal with these
situations effectively.
Nothing will lose a customer
more quickly than damage
to their goods, or a claim
that has been handled badly. |
|
TranSol's
purpose is to help New Zealand
freight companies improve
their procedures in order
to reduce cargo damage, and
to upskill their staff on claims
handling. This is a win/win
situation for yourselves and
your customers, delivering:
TranSol offers
two claims services to carriers:

 |
1.
Claims
Review
2. Claims
Outsourcing
|
|
1.
Claims Review
This is a thorough review of your
company's entire operation from
a claims perspective.
The key areas we look at are:
Cargo
handling practices
- How is cargo handled from the
time of pick
up
until delivery? What changes could
be made to reduce the
opportunity
for loss or damage? TranSol will
analyse all aspects of
your
cargo handling process to gain a
thorough knowledge of your
current
procedures. We will provide practical
and cost effective
suggestions
to improve those procedures.
Terms
and Conditions
- Is your Company effectively minimising
its
exposure
to claims? There are numerous 'tricks
of the trade' which
can
minimise your exposure within the
terms of the NZ
Carriage of Goods
Act
(1979).
There are also a number of traps,
some of which
have
been identified in recent case law,
that your Company should be
aware
of. We can also review any service
contracts that you may
have
with large customers, and any arrangements
you have with sub-
contracting
carriers.
Training
Issues
- How 'claims conscious' are you
and your staff? With
the
correct training, claims handling
can actually become a selling
point
for your Company. TranSol will identify
the training needs of
your
key staff and, if desired, we can
design and implement a basic
training
schedule.
Claims
Procedures
- We will review your claims handling
procedures,
from
first notification until completion,
including review of your
standard
letters, disputed claim procedure,
and the involvement of
third
parties such as sub-contracted carriers
and insurance
companies.
The findings of our review are presented
in a comprehensive report, including
recommendations and a proposed action
plan. Our charge for the Claims
Review service is based on an hourly
fee with a maximum limit.
In addition, TranSol offers a range
of products which we can custom
make to suit your company's requirements.
Anything from basic 'claims kits'
for key staff, to designing a claims
handling manual specifically for
your business.
2. Claims Outsourcing
Do
you employ full time staff to handle
claims, and if so are those staff
fully utilised? Is claims one of
those jobs that no one wants to
do which ends up being handled by
a staff member who already has enough
work to do and who doesn't really
know what he or she is doing? TranSol
is able handle all of your claims
from beginning to end, including
insurance aspects, in a professional
and effective manner. We will ensure
that your claims exposure is minimised,
but also preserve your commercial
relationships. TranSol charges on
a 'per claim' basis so that you
do not spend more on claims handling
than you absolutely need to.
The key to TranSol's approach is
spending time in your business,
getting to know your procedures
and your people, then applying our
skills to improve this important
aspect of what you do.
To
give you a clearer idea of how we
can help you, we would like the
opportunity to spend a few hours
looking at key areas of your operation.
We can then give you a 'snapshot'
of your requirements and provide
you with quotations for the alternatives
of Claims Review or Claims Outsourcing.
This is a completely free and no
obligation service.
