If
you receive goods in a damaged
condition, or if some or all of
your goods are missing, it is
important that you follow the
following procedure:
1.
Note any damage or short delivery
on the carrier's delivery
docket.
The carrier will ask you to sign
for your goods. By signing without
any notation of damage you are
accepting that you received the
goods in 'good order and condition'.
If damage or loss is apparent,
you should note this on the docket.
Try to be as specific as possible,
eg '2 boxes crushed' rather than
just 'damage'. If you are unable
to inspect your goods thoroughly
at the time of delivery then we
advise you to write the words
'Subject To Inspection' on the
delivery docket at the time that
you receive the goods. Then inspect
your goods thoroughly AS SOON
AS POSSIBLE after delivery. Failure
to do this may prejudice your
insurance claim and/or your rights
of recourse against the carrier.
2. IMMEDIATELY notify TranSol
of a potential claim:

3.
IMMEDIATELY notify the carrier
in writing of the loss or damage.
This is known as a 'pro forma notice
of claim' and it is essential in
order to protect rights of recourse
against the carrier. To assist you,
we have a blank pro
forma claim
which you can download from this
website, complete, then fax to the
carrier. Alternatively, contact
us by phone, fax, or email,
and we will send a hard copy to
you. For instructions on how to
complete the form see Guide
to Completing forms - Pro forma.
It is sometimes difficult to identify
who the carrier is, as there may
have been several parties involved
with the transport of your goods
- eg a freight forwarder, a shipping
company, a customs agent, a local
transport company. In those circumstances
we would advise you to send a copy
of the pro forma claim to all of
the parties involved in the transit.
Retain a copy of the pro forma you
have sent, as your insurers will
require a copy of this.
4. Complete a claim form
and provide claim documentation.
We can fax or post you a claim
form, or alternatively you may
print
a claim form
directly from this website. For
instructions on how to complete
the form see Guide
to Completing forms - Claim form.
These instructions can also be
printed. Please note that if you
are printing a claim form you
also need to complete stage 2
- notifying us.
