TranSol
is unique in the New Zealand marketplace. Traditionally, marine claims agency has been handled by insurance companies or surveyors.

As agency claims handling is not the 'core business' of those companies, we believe that this important service has not had the necessary resources and expertise dedicated to it. TranSol has been formed specifically to meet the need for an experienced, dedicated, marine claims agency service.

TranSol has a number of distinct advantages over other companies offering claims agency services.

1. Internet and Electronic Claims Systems (ECS)

TranSol is committed to using technology to improve claims handling services.

Our website allows us to be open for your clients 24 hours a day 7 days a week. From our website, your client can obtain instructions on how to claim, download a claim form, and contact us via email. In other words, if your client wishes, the entire claim process can be handled electronically.

In addition, we have developed an Electronic Claims System (ECS) specifically for handling marine agency claims. ECS provides us with a powerful tool to increase the efficiency of claims handling and enable us to provide unique 'added value' services. ECS has the following benefits for you and your clients:

Speed of Processing: Once your insured provides us with a
completed claim form (or phones through the information, see below)
the system takes care of the rest, from registering the claim to
printing letters. Our commitment to providing rapid and effective claim
handling services is reflected in our service standards, a copy of
which is attached.

Reporting and Analysis: ECS allows us to analyse and report on any
data that is captured by the system. You may wish to have a list of
all outstanding claims, or all claims under recovery, or you may wish
to see whether the volume of claims for a particular client has
increased or decreased over the past six months. ECS is able to
instantly generate reports using the information gathered in the
database.

Phone in a claim: As the data in ECS is input by TranSol based on
information provided by the insured, there is no need for the insured
to physically complete a claim form. The information can be given to
us over the phone. We can complete the input then send a hard copy
of the completed claim form to the insured for them to sign and return
along with the necessary claim documentation.

Up to Date Information: The flow of information back to insurers is
the key to effective agency claims handling. With ECS, the claim file
can be updated as soon as information becomes available, ensuring
that the information passed back to insurers is completely up to date.

Self Monitoring System: We are able to monitor claims by the length
of time they have been in a particular status. The system ensures
that claims do not fall into the 'black hole' that seems to plague other
agency claim handlers!

The 'next step' from ECS is ECS Interactive. ECS Interactive is a claims database which runs off our website. For our large clients, we can design a database to suit your particular needs. Your clients can access the database via the Internet and lodge a claim themselves. ECS Interactive provides all of the benefits listed above, plus:

Flexibility: ECS Interactive is fully customisable, allowing us to design
the database according to whatever information you want to capture.
We can base the ECS Interactive claim entry screen off your existing
claim form, or customise it as you require.

'Real time' claims: Claims are registered as soon as they have been
input by the insured. Insurers and insureds can access the database
at any time and have a complete picture of all the claims registered
by the insured.

Self-service Reporting: ECS Interactive is able to instantly generate
reports using the information gathered in the database. Depending on
your reporting requirements, we will customise a report menu for you
so that you can run reports at the touch of a button.

Ease of Use: Manually completed claim forms are time consuming and
can be confusing for clients. ECS utilises prompts and drop down
boxes to make claims entry a simple process.

2. Trend Analysis and Benchmarking

TranSol is able to offer a range of services that take us beyond the normal role of an agent. Using our Electronic Claims System we are able to capture and analyse information about all aspects of claims. This enables us to detect problem areas or developing trends. For example, we are able to monitor the level of claims for a particular client, or a particular commodity, or whether one carrier is having a high level of claims. We are able to put this information instantly at insurers' fingertips.

3. Risk Management and Loss Prevention

TranSol has the skills and experience to provide your clients with a variety of high quality Risk Management advice. Issues such as packaging, transport methods, and protecting recovery rights all have a bearing on the volume of claims and your client's loss ratio. TranSol takes a proactive approach to this issue, advising insurers of potential problems as they arise, then asking insurers for further instructions. At your request, we are able to provide Risk Management reports on any or all of these issues.

4. Recoveries

TranSol will aggressively pursue recoveries against carriers. We believe that this aspect of the Agent's role is not being done well by any of the companies currently offering Agency services in New Zealand. This has a negative effect on your client's loss ratio, your bottom line, and it also allows carriers to continue with poor practices that result in loss and damage to your client's cargo. TranSol has several advantages when it comes to recoveries:

Our ECS system also incorporates recoveries, ensuring that
outstanding recoveries are regularly monitored and subject to review.
Using ECS we are also able to provide you with up to date information
on the progress of recoveries, and design recovery reports for you.

TranSol's Directors have over 10 years claims and freight experience.
We have a thorough understanding of freight liability issues.
